![]() Joined: Sat Feb 28 2009, 06:34pm Posts: 3 | according to rule 9-5 Art 5d. if contact is made by R being blocked into the kicker or holder then there is no roughing. It would appear the same circumstances would apply for a rusher being blocked into the QB. My answer is no. | ||

The intent of the rule is to preclude a cheap shot on the passer for any reason. The referee needs to determine if the player made every effort to avoid the passer and if he did I think you are correct. A situation that comes to mind is if the defensive player is running by the passer and is hit, knocked off balance, and runs into the passer. It would be difficult in my opinion for the defensive player to avoid contact, so by rule this is roughing the passer ???? I think not. This is another case of you must see it to make the call. .. trust none of what you hear and less of what you see, this is what will be ... | ||
